ROUND DSV - CARBON STEEL: FOR MOST APPLICATIONS
Eastern Instruments' DSV - Duct Section VAP retains all of the air flow measurement features and capabilities of the VAP Pitot, while offering the additional feature of being exceedingly easy to order and install. The DSV is either a round or rectangular flanged section of duct that contains an array of VAP Pitots along with straightening vanes that help channel air flow through the flow measurement section of the DSV.
Below, you will find an overview of the Painted Carbon Steel DSV specifically designed for installation in round ducts.
ROUND DSV: CARBON STEEL
The Powder Coated Carbon Steel DSV is a flanged duct section which contains both straightening vanes for profiling turbulent air, as well as an array of flow measurement pitots. The DSV offers a similar accuracy as the VAP Pitot with the added benefit of being extremely easy to install. The round Carbon Steel DSV is specifically designed for installation within round ducts where temperatures do not exceed 400 degrees F and can be equipped with either Anodized Aluminum pitots or Stainless Steel pitots. The result, when coupled with any DP or Multivariable Transmitter, is a very accurate Differential Pressure based flow measurement.
CARBON STEEL DSV:
CLEAN AIR APPLICATIONS
When mounted in SA (Superior Accuracy) mode, all of the models mentioned above will accurately measure the flow of relatively clean air through nearly any duct. While positioning the High Port so that it faces into the air stream (shown below) makes the measurement more accurate, it also limits the use of SA mode to particulate-free air. Mounted in SA mode, VAP pitots provide an accurate differential pressure output that allows for precise air flow measurement and control of your process to within +/-0.50% accuracy when calibrated.

CARBON STEEL DSV:
PARTICULATE-LADEN "DIRTY" AIR
When mounted in PA (Particulate-laden Air) mode, all of the models mentioned above will accurately measure the flow of "dirty" or particulate-laden air through nearly any duct. In PA mode, the High Port is positioned so that it faces away from the oncoming air stream, making the pitot resistant to plugging. Mounted in PA mode, VAP pitots provide an accurate differential pressure output which allows for precise air flow measurement and control of your process to within +/-2.00% accuracy when calibrated.
